Stella G. Hatala of Burlington City, died Monday, March 18, 2013 at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro at the age of 87. Ms. Hatala was born in Burlington and remained a lifelong resident. A graduate of Burlington High School, she also attended the University of Maryland. She was employed for many years as the Secretary to Ambassadors for the US Department of State.

In this position, Stella traveled to and served in many countries around the world. In total she spent 28 years overseas serving in countries such as Turkey, Romania, Germany, Thailand, Senegal, Niger, Laos, Greece and her last post, Bejing, China. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling and had traveled to every country in Europe except Albania. She was a parishioner of All Saints RC Church in Burlington, where she sang in the church choir. She was a past president of both the All Saints Senior Citizens Club and the Burlington Chapter of the AARP and the Good Cheer Club.

She also worked for the Burlington County Board of Elections and was a 20 year member of the Board of Island Managers, serving as President for several years.

Stella is survived by her sister Helen Hatala of Burlington, her nieces and their spouses Janice (Harry) Clauss, Joanne (James) Kresge, Dr. Antoinette Nowakowski, Marianne (Jeffrey) Ford, Nancy (Kenneth) Miller and Rose (Kenneth) Perry, her cousins Teresa, Mark and Stephen Stachura, Barbara, Aneta, Edyta and Richard Kuciapa, Robert, Francis and Kenneth Bocci, Kathleen Kwelty, Helen Hrabowski and Family, her caretaker Teresa Czaplinska, her cousins in Europe Anna Komaniecka and Maria Chmielowiec as well as many other relatives in Poland.
