Stanley W. Matt, Sr.

He was born, June 25, 1934, in Rome, a son of the late John and Mary Piatkowski, and educated in West Leyden schools. Stanley was united in marriage to the former Karen MacFarland on January 1, 1955 in Rome. He was a life-long farmer and also worked for the New York State Department of Transportation.

Stan had a friendly personality and could have a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed the many friends he made over the years at the Burton Livestock Exchange.

Stan is survived by his wife, Karen; a daughter, Kimberly Matt of Lee Center; two sons and daughters in law, Stanley W. Jr., and Judy Matt of Lee Center, and Steven and Roberta Matt of Ava; five brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Nancy Matt of Lee Center, Richard and Ann Matt of Remsen, James and Emma Matt of Ava, Earl and Marlene Matt of Ava, and John and Sue Matt of Cooperstown; a brother in law, Ed DeFraine of Lee Center; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Anna DeFraine; and brothers and sisters in-law Edward and Helen Matt; and Lawrence and Marion Matt.
