Stanley J. Windy Sr., 99, lifelong resident of Bridgeport and formerly of La Salle, died April 21, 2016.

Mr. Windy was born in La Salle to Frank and Mary (Gill) Windy Sr. He graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic School in 1932.  Then, he attended LaSalle-Peru Township High School and then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps Co. 695 in Dixon Springs, IL from 1934 until 1937.  He married Maxine L. Smith on his 31st birthday on November 29, 1947 and was until her death on May 1, 1973.

Mr. Windy worked and retired after 29 years with Ryder Truck Lines as a Dockman with Teamsters Union Local 710.  He was past member of St. David’s Holy Name Society in Chicago and senior member of Poorman’s S.A.C. in Chicago.  He was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, friend and neighbor.  He loved his sports and fishing.  He will be deeply missed by all.

Mr. Windy is survived by children Neva (Patrick) Shields, Mary Ellen (Steve) Mokrzycki, Steve (Pamela) Windy, Ginger (Roland) Garza; grandchildren, Michael, John, Laura, James, Stephen, Samantha and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Luke and Riley; niece, Audrey Green Makowski, nephews Robert “Bo” Windy, Joseph Windy, Gary Windy, Jack Hyson, Rich Hyson and James Hyson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, son Stanley “Stash” Windy Jr., brothers, Edmund (Josephine) Windy, Frank (Patricia) Windy, sister, Ameilia “Betty”(Walter) Hyson, and nephew Billy Hyson.
