Pat (Gabrielle), CSJ

was born August 20, 1934 at Deaconess Hospital in Mpls to John Frank Binko and Agnes Knoll Binko and attended St. Bridget’s Grade School and St. Anthony High School. Both Pat and her brother, Jerry, took violin lessons at St. Bridget’s. Pat joined the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1952. She studied piano at St. Agatha’s Conservatory and taught music at Mary Hall in St. Paul, Ascension School in Minneapolis, and Good Shepherd School in Golden Valley. She continued her education at the College of St. Catherine and the University of North Dakota where she earned her B.A. and M.ED. Pat became a teacher and string director for students from kindergarten through sixth grade for seven years including a year at a private Suzuki school in Grand Forks public schools. She spent 2 years in Japan where she studied the Suzuki method under Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Pat returned to St Paul in 1986 and started her own Suzuki Talent Education Schools for Strings. She retired having taught more than fifty years. Her legacy lives on in the many students she taught and the love their music expresses. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes and her brother Jerry. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy; nieces, Kathy DeRaimo and Jean Maczko; grandnieces, Madelaine and Ella Maczko; and grandnephew, Steven Binko. beginning at 10AM.
