Spottswood “Jack†Fisher Eggleston, 87, of 1810 Spruce Street, Martinsville, VA died Friday, May 11, 2012 at Morehead Memorial Hospital, Eden, NC. He was born on June 18, 1924 in Franklin County, VA to the late Joseph Richard Eggleston and Nannie Rebecca Wingfield Eggleston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James T. Eggleston and Randolph Davis and sisters, Mary Elizabeth Eggleston, Johnsie Wells and Josephine Haynes. Mr. Eggleston was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church, Martinsville, VA. He worked for the City of Martinsville in the Engineering Dept. and was Superintendent of the Water and Sewer Dept., retiring in 1990 with 43 years service. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Snow Creek Masonic Lodge No. 90 for more than 50 years serving as Master in 1970 and 1971; he was District Deputy in 1997; he was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies Wise Master in 1990; he was Master Consistory in 1994; he was Commander of Kudosh in 1995 and a decorated 32 degree Knight Commander Court of Honor. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Pedigo Eggleston of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Smith and Michael Smith of Asheboro, NC; Karen Blankenship and Tim Blankenship of Bridgewater, VA and Sharon Lovell and Rob Lovell of Harrisonburg, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis K. Eggleston and Karen Eggleston of Martinsville, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice Oakes and Carlton Oakes of Penhook, VA and grandchildren, Collin Smith, Kinci Smith, Nathan Blankenship, Anna Blankenship and Leah Blankenship.
