Sophie Rose Macchia, 80, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, New Jersey. She was born Sophie Rose Lew on January 28, 1941 in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she grew up. In 1967, she settled in Hazlet, New Jersey, where she remained to raise her family. Sophie’s home was full of love, laughs, and faith.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen (Myhowycz) Lew, and her husband, George A. Macchia. Sophie is survived by her loving sons, George Macchia and his wife, Susan, of Holmdel, Michael John Macchia and his wife, Jennifer, of Middletown, Anthony Macchia of Toms River, James Macchia and his wife, Susan, of Belford, and Peter Macchia and his wife, Heather, of Aberdeen, and her dear sister, Patricia Musto. Sophie also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Michael, Megan, Caitlyn, Lindsey, Amanda, Sophia, Fiona, Samantha and Georgina.
