Sophia Leland Hight Smith, age 94, passed peacefully into her eternal rest on Tuesday afternoon, December 13, 2011. A native of Coweta County, she was born March 6, 1917 to the late Everett L. and Beaulah Genvieve Johnson Hight. Also preceding her in death was her husband Francis Lamar “Molly” Smith in 1996.
Mrs. Smith led a very simple life and dedicated herself to being a nurturing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a longtime member of Faith Creek United Methodist church which originated as Jones Chapel Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children; F. Lamar Smith and his wife Eva Sue and Phillip Ballard Smith and his wife Susan. She was devoted to her grandchildren Brian Smith (Kristi), Christy Grote (Brent), Katie Tucker (Jesse), Sandy Sipe (Bob) and Ann Turner (Chris). She is also survived by eight great grandchildren who are Kevin Sipe, Patrick Sipe, Sage Turner, Austin Turner, Jackson Grote, Sara Hays Grote, Sawyer Smith, Reese Smith.
