Socrates (“Soc”) George Kent was born on March 22, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois and left us in Destin, Florida on June 29, 2013 for even more good times.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (“Fran”) who was his quiet support, capable coworker and willing participant in jokes and other celebrations for 61 years.
He is survived by three sons, Michael G. Kent and wife Gayle Kent, Timothy J. Kent and wife, Doree Kent and Christopher A. Kent and significant other, Jane Taylor; a daughter, Dr. Elyse M. Kent, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends.
Soc played trumpet in big bands during the war years and capably passed that skill on to all four of his children who continue that same search for excellence in their own lives and careers.
His involved and entertaining stories, quick wit, unforgettable laugh and ability to make others smile with him continued unabated throughout his life.
