Sid Dean Smith, 64, of Newton died on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
Sid, the son of William Glen and Arless (Dow) Smith, was born on October 18, 1955 in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1973 and served his country in the U.S. Army for 17 years.
Sid is survived by his children, Deana Smith of West Des Moines, Amber (Mike) Loventinsky of Wellman, and Eric Smith of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Zach, Deegan, and Eric Eddy and Brooklynn, Maddison, Ryan, and Ethan Loventinsky; and the mother of his children, Linda K. Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred Smith.
