Shirley T. Ferguson, age 86 of Midland died on Friday evening July 3, 2015 at the Cartwright Center in Saginaw.

The daughter of the late Rudolph and Gladys (Watson) Schroeder was born on February 8, 1929in Bay City where she was raised and educated. On August 25, 1951 she married Homer R. Ferguson in Bay City and he pre-deceased her December 20, 2005. Shirley was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed helping others while working at the Material Mart for many years, retiring in 2007.

She was very active with and a charter member of the United Church of Christ Midland where she will be remembered as a loving, caring person, always thinking of others before herself. Shirley worked with the Habitat for Humanity and had served in Georgia along with President and Mrs. Carter. After her retirement she enjoyed quilting with her friends Judy Smith, Judy Piper and Beth Gardner.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Linda Ameling, Janet Conner and dear friend Bob Coleman and Laurie (Thomas) Bledsoe. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Alicia Christopher, Amy (Mike) Wallace, Benjamin (Emily) Ameling, Joseph (Nikki) Ameling Jr., Corey Bledsoe, Ethan Bledsoe and seven great grandchildren
