Shirley A. Pettigrew Parra, 63, Indianapolis, died July 18, 2009 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born May 23, 1946 in Anderson, and resided in Indianapolis. She had lived in Madison County for twenty years before moving to New Mexico and Texas where she resided until 1993 when she moved to Indianapolis. She was employed at Eli Lilly as a tape librarian for ten years. She donated and was very involved with the American Cancer Society. She had been fighting cancer for over fifteen years.
She is survived by her husband, whom she married in 1978; Ernest Parra and three children: Carl Elizabeth Castor of Sevierville, TN., Scott Castor of Layfayette, and Curtis Amy Castor of Indianpolis. A brother; Jimmy Brigiette Pettigrew of Anderson and 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Bert and Goldie Dowden Pettigrew. A brother; Arthur Pettigrew and a sister; Alberta Johnson.
