Shirley Mary (Coffey) Howell, 93, of Bethlehem Township and formerly of East Windsor, NJ and North Brunswick, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late James J. Howell. Born in Dupont, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Maude (Cruise) Coffey. Shirley was a graduate of Marywood College. She was a dedicated and caring educator for most of her life at St. Bartholomew’s School and St. Augustine’s School in New Jersey. She was awarded the Teacher of the Year award during her time at St. Bartholomew’s. Her classrooms were nicknamed the “Howell’s Owls”. Shirley was a faithful and devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Hightstown, NJ where she was active within the church ministry, bible study as well as teaching English as a second language to the parishioners. Above all, Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all.

 

Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Marian Paull and her husband Robert of Edison, NJ and Jane Howell of Raleigh, NC; son Thomas Howell and his wife Karen of Bethlehem; grandchildren Kim, Erica, Emily, Christopher, Alexander and Shannon and great grandchildren Oren, Rose and Eleanor. She was preceded in death by her siblings Robert Coffey and his wife Mary, Gerald Coffey and his wife Audrey and Edward Coffey and his wife Joann.
