Shirley Marie McCallister “Granny” Shirley McCallister, 86, of Manassas, VA, went to her heavenly home on Friday, August 9, 2024. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a devout Christian. Shirley was born on January 22, 1938, to the late Bradley and Ollie Mae Adams in Wise, VA. Shirley grew up in a large family and had 7 brothers and 2 sisters. In Shirley’s early adulthood she met her first love, Chester Miller, and they had two children together, Sandy and Michael “Mike”. In the late 60s they moved to the DMV area and in 1970 the family unexpectedly lost Chester. In 1972, Shirley married Camerson McCallister, and they moved to a home in Manassas, VA. Shirley and Cam were members of the Yorkshire Freewill Baptist Church, in Manassas, VA for many years. They also spent time working together managing self-storage facilities until they retired. Shirley lost Cam in early 2015 after 43 years of marriage and later the same year endured the loss of her beloved daughter Sandy at just 56 years old. In addition to her parents, husbands and daughter, Shirley was also preceded in death by five of her brothers, Lee Adams, Abie Adams, John Adams, Carl Adams, Earnest Adams and her two sisters, Pearl Bright and Polly Rae. Survivors include her loving son, Mike Miller and wife Sara of Nokesville, VA and son in law John Hurst of Manassas, VA. Two brothers, Bruce Adams of Norton, VA and Douglas Adams of Norton, VA. Grandchildren, Angela and Kevin of Manassas, VA, Phillip and Jessie of Front Royal, VA, Sharon and Jason of Midland, VA, Dwayne and Katie of Sumerduck, VA, Brad and Jenny of Manassas, VA, Ashley and Chris of Remington, VA. Great Grandchildren, Kobe, Brianna, Trey, Jayda, Tyler, Prestyn, Cassie, Genevieve, Elizabeth, Hudson, Kadence, Kyle, Emma and Chance, one great, great Grandson, Karter and her spoiled grand dog, Cinnamon. Along with many other friends and family that referred to her as Granny. Shirley was a faithful woman who many thought to be very strong, she always gave credit for her strength to Jesus. She lived through many heartbreaks but never lost sight of her faith. She loved Jesus and her family with all her heart.
