Shirley Jean Whinery Lee, age 86, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on May 4, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Chester Lee; son, William Curtis Lee; parents, Lewis and Ray Belle Whinery; brother, Ron Whinery; step-mother, Christine Whinery.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa (Randall) Luther, Lawrenceville, GA; son, Robert Lee, Lawrenceville, GA; seven grandchildren, Chad Lee, Trevor Lee, Preston Luther, Shawn Luther, Christopher Luther, Aaron Lee, Andrew Lee; one great-grandson, Carson Lee; sister, Fran (Phil) Mystery.
Mrs. Lee was born September 28, 1934, in Miami, Florida.
She was a 1952 graduate of Miami Edison High School. Then she continued her education as a 1956 graduate of the University of Florida, Tallahassee, FL with a bachelor’s degree in Education and then continued to graduate in 1984 from the University of West Florida where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Mrs. Lee also had a Masters’s Degree in Education. She retired from the Navy Base in Pensacola, FL after 17 years of service. She was a teacher in Pensacola, FL for 5 years before going back to college to further her education. Mrs. Lee was a school teacher for the Dade County School System for 21 years.
She was a member of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida and she loved ceramics, cross-stitching, and shopping.
