She died at 3:55 pm Tuesday March 20, 2012 at her residence.

She was born in Kenton on September 7, 1936 to John and Anna Mae (Ford) Cavin. On December 23, 1956 she married Nelson “Gene” Cronley, he preceded her in death on July 6, 1965. On June 7, 1970 she married David M. Howard and he preceded her in death on July 8 2009.

Surviving are a son Jay Cronley of San Francisco, CA, three daughters Gina Cronley of Columbus, Angela (Scott) Stiverson of Findlay, and Tiffany Howard of Kenton, three grandchildren Lilliana, Emmanuel, and Malia Stiverson, three sisters Roberta Turner of Kenton, Phyllis Camburn of Bellefontaine, and Vonda (Robert) Speakman of Lancaster, one brother Francis “Bud” (Norma) Cavin of Findlay, a special daughter Kris Harrison of Columbus, three sister in laws Patricia Price of Venice, FL, Connie (Jim) Corbin of Mt. Victory, Sara (Everett) Prewitt of Kansas City, MO, and a brother in law Darrel Howard of Perrysburg.

She was preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Baier.

Shirley started working as secretary and bookkeeper for Wherd Elevator and later Landmark Elevator. She was the clerk for Taylor Creek Township for a number of years and retired from Hardin County Board of Election, where she served as the deputy director and a board member.

She was a 1954 graduate of Ridgeway High School where she was crowned Homecoming Queen. A member of Mt. Victory United Methodist Church and St. John’s United Church of Christ, Hardin County Democrats, where she served as secretary for many years, she also served on the concession committee for the Hardin County Fair Board for many years.
