Shirley Ann O’Connor, age 80, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016, at her residence in Manassas, VA. Mrs. O’Connor was born Shirley Ann Lewis on July 27, 1936, in Mullins, SC; the daughter of the late Leslie and Ima (Herring) Lewis. After graduating from high school, she joined the United States Air Force and served our country in the WAF. She married and was blessed with three daughters and her niece while maintaining a career as a Graphics/Visual Illustrator for the U.S. Government. Mrs. O’Connor loved her family, her friends and her cats. She loved to paint, take pictures and travel. She made her life an adventure through laughter, song and her faith. Mrs. O’Connor was preceded in death by her husband, Roger J. O’Connor, her brother, W.L. Lewis; and her sister, Helen White. Survivors include her three daughters, Sherry L. Hamilton and husband Keith of Waldorf, MD; Joyce A. Leannarda and husband Rocky of Oldsmar, FL; Laura J. Gilbert of Manassas Park, VA; her niece, I. Jean Monroe of Alexandria, VA; her brother, Harold Lewis and wife Pat of Rock Hill, SC; her sister, Peggy Morris of Charlotte, NC; step son, Greg O’Connor and step daughter, Jennifer Bolton. She is also survived by four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
