METAMORA – Shirley Ann Kouri, age 75, of Metamora passed away on Friday, October 16, at 9:17 am at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was on born February 15, 1940, in St. Peter, WI to Victor and Sarah (Wagner) Braun. She married Edward P. Kouri on July 10, 1965 in St. Peter, Wisconsin.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Edward; daughter, Tiffany (Jay) Marzuki of Chicago; son, Scott (Nicole) Kouri of Long Grove, Illinois; daughter, Jackie (Sean) Mathews of Metamora; son, Paul (Jaime) Kouri of Metamora; and her mother, Sarah of Fond du Lac, WI. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Hunter, Quinn, Crew, and Kennedy Mathews, Tyler and Emerson Kouri, Luke Marzuki, and Reid Kouri; and four siblings, Kathy Braun of Milwaukee WI, Merle (Kendra) Braun, Jack (Carol) Braun, and Terry (Joan) Braun all of Fond du Lac, WI. She was preceded in death by her father, and brother, Adrian Braun.

Early in her career, Shirley was a Dance Instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Peoria and a bookkeeper at the Illinois Blue Print Co. Former Co- Owner of the Lariat Steak House in Peoria She was also the Activities Director at the OSF Motherhouse in East Peoria. Later she retired as the owner of the Hidden Treasure Bookstore.
