Sheryl Anne Wylie “Nana” Whearty, 66, of Moberly, formerly of Mexico, MO, passed away on July 7, 2016.

Sheryl was raised in Carthage, Arkansas, which she proudly still called home. Her parents were Gene and Margene (Walpole) Wylie. She loved nothing more than visiting the farm, fishing and going to the “boat”. She loved her family very much and thought of them often.

Sheryl met William (Bill) Whearty, in Little Rock, Arkansas and they were married on March 4, 1971. They started their life and family together in Little Rock and with the U.S. Air Force moved to Great Falls, MT and then later moved to Mexico, MO to raise their two children. They resided in Mexico for over 30 years and later moved to Moberly to be closer to their grandchildren.

Sheryl started her social services career with Head Start, later moving to C-Star, First Steps and ending with the Arthur Center and Options in Mexico and Fulton. She also proudly received her college degree from William Woods University as a non-traditional student. While currently retired from the social services field, helping others was never far from her mind. She always had an ear to listen and a word to share.

Sheryl had two children Adam and Rachael. She loved them with all her heart and soul and would have done anything for them. She had two grandchildren, Alex and Abbigal, who stole her heart and made her so very happy. Spending time with them brought nothing but joy in her life.

Sheryl is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Whearty of the home, her children, Adam Whearty of Moberly and Rachael Dunwoody and her husband Andrew of Columbia, grandchildren, Alex and Abbigal Whearty and daughter-in-law, Tracey Whearty, brother Gene (Mac) Wylie, Jr. of Tulip, Arkansas, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Betty McKeiver and a brother, Ronald Wylie.

Sheryl was a proud mother, and even more proud Nana. She was a very special lady and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
