Sherrie Lee Peck, 48, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17th at her home surrounded by her family. Born on November 15, 1960 in Pottstown, PA, she was the daughter of James J. and Mary (Weiser) Peck of Brewster, NY. Sherrie graduated Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, NY in 1978 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY, a Master’s Degree in Deaf Education at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC and a Phd. in counseling and psychology at the University of Connecticut. She worked at the Fairfax, VA Public Schools as a sign language interpreter, The Learning Center in Framingham, MA and at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT. Besides her parents, Sherrie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Shellie Lyn (Peck) Lee and Charles Lee of Newburgh, NY; a niece, Riley Catherine Lee of Newburgh, NY; uncle and aunt, Daniel and Joanna Weiser of Gilbertsville, PA and Charles and Anne Weiser of Douglasville, PA; four cousins, Debbie, Julie, David and Steven Weiser; her beloved West Highland White Terriers, Sunny and Buddy and many close, caring friends. The Peck family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mary Hough-Scholl and Alicja Malon for the compassionate care they provided.
