DeHaan, Sherri L. Klies of Portage, Michigan Sherri went to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, March 7, 2013 while surrounded by family and friends at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.

She was born on February 9, 1955 in Kalamazoo, MI. She is survived by her loving husband, Timothy DeHaan; her two daughters, Brooke Camp Joel and Carley Bosker Timothy; her two step-daughters, Kelli Jonas Dave and Stephanie Formsma Ryan; 7 adoring grandchildren that were the light of her life: Nolan, Brody & Hadley Camp, Avery & Bryce Bosker, Davis & Sydney Formsma; a brother, Barry Klies Lorraine; a sister-in-law, Sally Triemstra Tom and numerous loving friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry W. & Mary E. Klies. Sherri was a strong, gracious, generous, compassionate, unconditionally loveable woman.

A hero to her daughters for her inner strength, her joyous heart, her unbounded love, her courage, her faith and her perseverance. Sherri was a passionate, warm, inspirational, fun-loving mother and grand-mother. She had many special friends. She never met a person who did not become her friend. She loved talking with people, and dedicated most of her life to helping others in any way that she could. She was an amazing listener. Sherri always put the welfare and concern of others before her own; she had a zest for life that was inspiring and always had a warm, kind smile on her face.

Sherri was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Timothy DeHaan on July 25, 1997. The Lord brought them together through little league softball, and they enjoyed spending all of their spare time with their grandchildren. Before Sherri’s illness progressed, they loved going on vacation to their favorite spot in Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida. God had an intricate plan for Sherri’s life, one that brought her closer to Him. Prior to her passing, Sherri suffered a long battle with cancer, and faced numerous trials and tribulations, but with each difficulty came God’s grace and mercy – she fought and survived a tenacious battle all the way through the end – and in the end, victory in Jesus was hers.

Sherri was a member of 2nd Reformed Church since 1998 – A special thanks to her church family for all of their love and support over the years. A special thank you to dear friends, Karen Camp, Mike Birkhold, Pauline & Murray Maurer, Carolyn Drews and Bev Rindler for their loving care and companionship. Sherri was a joy to be with and a blessing to everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy as she faced many challenges in her short life, but she faced them with faith, grace and a positive attitude. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23.
