Sherman Pool, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico for the past 30 years, passed away on Monday January 23, 2017. He was born to Arthur and Gepka Pool in Volga, South Dakota on September 16, 1926. He married Marjorie Lynch on November 28, 1952. Sherman is preceded in death by his sister, Therese McClelland. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie; his daughter, Kathleen Smith, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, her two sons, as well as Jeffrey Pool and his wife and two daughters of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Sherman retired and moved to New Mexico in 1987 from the Volvo Machinery Equipment Company after a lifelong career in the marketing and sales of heavy earth-moving equipment. Sherman was a World War II navy veteran who served on a destroyer in the Pacific fleet. After returning from war, Sherman attended and graduated from South Dakota State College in Brookings.
Sherman enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and shooting. He was an accomplished national skeet shooter and continued his love of competitive shooting well into his 80s at local ranges in New Mexico.
Sherman was a devoted family man and loyal friend and will be missed by all. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will hold his memory dear to their hearts.
