Shelley Munns

HONEYVILLE – Lowell Shelley Munns, 88, died Friday, November 11, 2016 in Brigham City, Utah. He was born August 9, 1928 in Elwood, Utah, the eighth child of twelve born to Archie Austin and Charlotte Ann Abel Munns. He attended Elwood Elementary and graduated from Bear River High School. He married Mary Hirschi in 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple, together they had 12 children. They later divorced. He married Joyce Anderson in 1988 in Logan. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1989. Shelley lived in Elwood for 59 years and in Honeyville for 28 years. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was involved with scouting, served in the Sunday School program and was a home teacher. Shelley enjoyed family, farming, horses, animals, fishing, working with machinery and being outdoors. He worked at Intermountain Indian School before its closing and Thiokol before retiring.
Surviving are his wife Joyce, his 11 children: Michael (Cheryl) Munns, Mountain View, WY; Kathy Francom, Hyrum, UT; Linda (Steve) Burns, Garland, UT; Gloria (Barry) Holmstead, Salt Lake City, UT; Christine (Robert) Laumann, Elwood, UT; Weston (Jorja) Munns, Townsend, MT; Lola – Dot (George) Ross, Corinne, UT; Jean (Hal) Gordon, Aloha, OR; James (Amanda) Munns, San Antonio, TX; Sharla (Jeremy) Greene, Preston, ID; and Sheldon (Alyssa) Munns, Laurel, MD. He is also survived by Joyce’s children: David (Connie) Anderson, Nibley, UT; Neil (Kathy) Anderson, Gilbert, AZ; Janette Anderson, Smithfield, UT; Nancy Anderson, Frederick, MD; a brother, Paul (Jane) Munns, sister, Mary Gardner, sisters-in law, Opalgene (Orlin) Munns, LaRue (Lysle) Munns, Barbara (Austin) Munns, brother-in-law Garth Parkinson; twenty four grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, daughter, Amy Joy Munns, Joyce’s son Darren Anderson, grandson Joshua Weston Munns, daughter-in-law Dawn Munns, six brothers and their spouses, Reed (Ruth), Farrell (Bernice), Orlin, Lysle, Rohland (Arlene), Austin and three sisters: Ruth (Albert) Bingham, Edna (Dewitt) Grandy, Charlotte Parkinson and sister-in-law Meg (Paul) Munns.
The family would like to thank Intermountain Hospice staff, especially Mavis, Russell, Gabby, Brandice and Lisa, nephew and niece Ryan and K’Lynne Gardner of Honeyville, neighbors and members of their Honeyville LDS Ward. Heartfelt thanks is also given to The Gables Assisted Living and their staff.
