Sheila Williamson was born November 8, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN to Roosevelt L Williamson Sr. and Helen M Brinkley Williamson.  She attended IPS school #42 and graduated from Northwest High School.

Sheila was a pillar and promising personality at Williamson’s Fish Market where she helped her father and family create a generational legacy.  She was 12 years old when her parents summoned her to be part of the family business.  Over the years, multiple generations have watched as she grew to be a wonderful addition to a loving neighborhood and community.  Whenever anyone walked in and did not see Sheila at the fryer, they had to make a choice…to either come back or place an order (ain’t no secret!).  Her love for the community she served could be felt instantly.  Sheila made you feel like her best friend even if she only saw you on Friday for a catfish sandwich with hot sauce and mustard.

Outside of her legacy at the Fish Market, Sheila invested time as a contractor for Indy Star and more recently as a sorter at the Walmart Fulfillment Center.  Her humble leadership skills carried throughout these facilities too.  Her positive characteristics were embraced by all her newly found coworkers.  Shelia’s light would shine wherever she went.

Sheila enjoyed going to the casino, the racetrack, watching movies and binge-watching TV series.    If you were on the phone with her while she was watching a TV series, you might as well have been watching it too.  She loved her family and friends with all she had.  She would give you the shirt off her back or just order you the same one.  She was always shopping for her loved ones and thinking of others.  Sheila’s generosity was unshakeable, meaningful, and full of purpose.

On October 4thSheila was diagnosed with stage IV cancer and was awaiting further testing to see just what assignment the Lord had for her next. During the last 8 weeks of her life, Sheila’s love for the Lord, strength, meekness, and determination proved itself even more. She was a firm believer in God showing her a sign. Dreams, repeated occurrences, the power of 3, numbers, you name it, if it seemed to be a message, she could see it. After being formally diagnosed with Metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer she learned that November was Lung Cancer Awareness Month and all she could say was wow. This is why we know that it isn’t just by chance that November is the same month that hosts her birthday (8th), her diagnosis confirmation date (12th), and the date God revealed His ultimate plan (28th). Sheila surrendered unto the Lord and accepted His will without hesitation on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the age of 61 years and 20 days. Let this be a lesson of awareness as we honor Sheila’s name daily that we shall also magnify her journey every November.
