Shawnie K. Nickoson, 50, of Elkhart, passed away following complications from an asthma condition at Elkhart General Hospital at 5:04 a.m. Friday, June 10.
She was born, in Elkhart, March 8, 1966, to the late Floyd and Frances (Hoke) Zimmerman.
Surviving are her daughters, Nicole Nickoson and Renita Lindsey; brothers Stephen (Phyllis) and Danny (Paula) Zimmerman; sister Rita Miller; grandchildren Aliyah, Donovan and Kaitlin Lindsey and Bella and Dreama Byrd; and former spouse Jack Nickoson.
Shawnie worked for the Elkhart Community School system for many years, but her entrepreneurial ambitions allowed her to own and operate several restaurants and a cleaning service over the years as well. She always enjoyed caring for her family and friends.
