Shawn Griffith

1982 ~ 2012

Shawn Griffith, 29, of Boise, passed away on Sunday, March 25 at a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Shawn was born June 30, 1982 in Tacoma, WA a son of Dorman and Lori Griffith.  Shawn was a very bright and caring son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.  He loved building things from the time he received his first set of legos.  As an adult, you could always count on him to assemble the toys his younger cousins and niece received as gifts for birthdays and holidays.  His last building project was a playhouse and swing set as a birthday present for his niece who always referred to him as ‘My Shawn’.

He graduated from Centennial High School in 2001 where he lettered in snowboarding and was a member of the Technology Student Association.

He obtained his CDL License in 2003 and worked for numerous companies as a commercial driver.  For the past two years he drove for Boise City Taxi.  He loved the job because he enjoyed meeting all types of people.

Bowling was his passion but he also enjoyed Karaoke, Golfing, Shooting, motorcycle riding, Fishing and Camping.  He loved going to the Oregon coast to fly his kites on the beach and go crabbing.  Some of his favorite times were spent with the family at the cabin in Donnelly.  He loved pulling his cousins on tubes across Cascade Lake with his Grandpa’s boat.

Shawn loved football, specifically the BSU Broncos and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He was one of those fans who liked to ‘dress up’ for BSU games.  When his team made a good play, he was like a kid, so excited, jumping up and down, high fiving the people around him.

He was an avid Nascar fan.  His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. If you wanted to know the specifics about a race or could not remember which driver won, you could count on Shawn to have the details.

Shawn is survived by his parents Dorman and Lori Griffith; sister and brother in law, Sara and Isaiah Via; maternal grandparents, Jim and Sherri Nall; paternal grandmother, Velma and Stan Fitzgerald; his special niece Maleah Via; too many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins to list; and his dogs Zeke and Iggy.

Shawn was preceded in death by an uncle, Billy Joe Gustin.

A special thank you to the paramedics, Boise Police, especially Lieutenant Alan Cavener, and the ICU staff at St. Al’s for their care and compassion.
