Sharon Parriott, age 75, of Spirit Lake passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake. She was born on December 22, 1938, in Rudd, Iowa, to Ed and Elsie Folkerts. Sharon graduated from Charles City High School in 1956, and Drake University in 1960. She was married to Toby Parriott for 36 years and parented four children with him. Sharon appreciated the Spirit Lake Drug Store, Indian hills Golf Club and Lake Okoboji activities. Her satisfactions came from mothering her children and grandchildren and from music, theater, teaching, reading and writing. She was a mentor for all youth in school and church. Sharon was thankful for community support in her projects and as an organist serving several church families. She had special appreciation for those who encouraged her poetry writing. In 2001, Sharon moved to Spencer, Iowa. Three years later, she became companions with Harry Rasdal and remained as such. Sharon is survived by her four children, Liz Ryan, and her husband, Dan, Susan Spalding, and her husband, Dave, Ann Butler, and her husband, Rob, and Chris Parriott, and his wife, Britt; grandchildren, Will, Hannah, Toby, Annie, Bradley, Emmalene, Elsie, Ryan and Ross; sister, Evelyn; and her companion, Harry Rasdal. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Dean and Dale.
