Sharon Johnson Pettway, age 63, of Newnan joined her beloved husband Paul in heaven on January 5, 2012. Born in Albany, Ga on November 22, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Leon E. Johnson Sr.
She is survived by her mother, Sarah Wingate Johnson, of Newnan. Sharon attended Chamblee High School in Chamblee. After graduating, she enrolled in The Crawford W. Long School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Her working career involved service in two Navy hospitals, Coweta General Hospital which became Humana Hospital, West Georgia Home Health Care and Shaw Industries where she was an occupational nurse. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Newnan. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul B. Pettway, who died in 2006.
She is survived by her sons Paul B. Pettway, Jr. and his wife, Phyllis, of Peachtree City and James E. Pettway and his wife, Angela, of Franklin. Her grandchildren are David Pettway, Nathan Pettway, Catherine Pettway, Martin Pettway, Brady Stewart and Andrew Stewart. Her surviving siblings are Alan Johnson of Homer, GA and Leon Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Fran, of Newnan.
