SGM Eddie Wayne Williams (USA Ret), August 15, 1941 – March 24, 2016.

SGM Eddie Williams (USA Ret), 74, passed away peacefully at his home on March 24, 2016. He is preceded in death by his wife and soulmate Claire Williams. Eddie spent his retirement days in Academy, Texas.

Eddie was a passionate man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Like his father, Eddie served the nation and attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major in the US Army and retired in 1985 after 27 years of service. He served over two years in combat in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. Over the past 20 years, Eddie frequently served as the VFW Post Commander at Post 4008 in Belton, Texas where he made a tremendous difference. He was also the Chaplain of Temple Elks Lodge #138.

After retiring from the military, SGM. Williams worked for the Texas A&M Healthcare System in Temple and subsequently retired from there after 20 years of faithful service.

Eddie was extremely caring and proud of his four sons and daughter, Johnny Williams of Leesburg, Virginia, Michael Williams of Guntersville, Alabama, Robert Williams of Rocklin, California, David Henderson of Bastrop, Texas, and Gail Henderson Murley of Pipe Creek, Texas. He is also survived by his brothers Ronnie of Haynesville, Louisiana and Charles (Chili) of Rosebud, Texas as well as his six grandchildren and five great grandchildren and many of his other loving friends.
