Scott C. Schmitz, 67, of Arnolds Park passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Scott was born on February 12, 1951, to Lewis and Yvonne (Mooney) Schmitz in Carroll, IA. He graduated from Carroll Kuemper High School and attended the University of Nebraska Omaha. He was united in marriage to Pamela Rose Beyer and to that union one son was born, Peter Schmitz. She preceded him in death in 1989. He was later united in marriage to Wendy Genrich on September 24, 1999, in Las Vegas, NV. Scott worked as an Electrician for many years for Menninga Electric in Carroll, IA. He later started his own electrical company Schmitz Electric in the Lakes area where he and Wendy made their home in Arnolds Park, IA. He loved cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed watching and feeding birds that came to visit his home. Scott treasured his time spent with his grandchildren taking them boating, going for Jeep rides, watching them compete in sports, and most of all, just spending time with them.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Wendy Schmitz of Arnolds Park; son Pete (Fish) Schmitz of Milford and stepson Nick Genrich of Milford; mother-in-law Larue Bradshaw of Arnolds Park; grandchildren Peyton, Gracey, Deegan, and Liam; sister Suellyn (John) Marz of Briggsville, WI; brother Shawn (Mary) Schmitz of Ashton, IL; brother-in-law Rick (Taylor) Genrich of Arnolds Park and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
