Scot Shayne Edwards was born on December 5, 1971 to Danny and Lynda Edwards in Twin Falls, Idaho. There he attended Immanuel Lutheran School through 8th grade and went on to graduate from Twin Falls High School in 1990, where he participated in basketball and track. Scot attended Northwest Nazarene College on a track scholarship from 1990-1994 and graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration. It is here where he met, as he would say, his “dreamgirl”, Cherie Thompson of Colton, Oregon. Scot and Cherie were married June 18, 1994 and settled in Nampa, Idaho.
Three years later he started his family and became the proud father of three children: Justin (22), Madie (20), and Shayne (16). He took his role as a father very seriously and was involved in all their activities. He was their biggest fan always encouraging, teaching, and supporting them in all that they pursued.
Scot was a great sportsman—shooting his bow, perfecting his shot, and coaching basketball, soccer, and track. He loved watching his kids, nieces, and nephews play sports and was always prepared with a detailed list of suggestions after every game. He enjoyed sharing his wisdom, encouraging, and investing time into not only them, but also their teammates. March Madness has always been a family favorite, and Scot would create a family bracket that provided endless family fun and competition during the national tournament.
Scot was a gifted writer. He enjoyed putting this talent to use for any special occasion or gift giving time. He could write the most creative poems that made us laugh and were very meaningful at the same time.
He loved his family, but his relationship with God was his top priority. He was a spiritual leader for his wife and kids and spent the last five years pursuing God with everything he had. His greatest desire was to lead his family in spirit and in truth as we strived together to truly know God. He was full of wisdom and discernment and enjoyed writing down everything that God was teaching him in what he called his “God thoughts”. These writings are something his wife and kids will cherish forever as he continues, even after death, to lead his family closer to Christ.
Scot passed away at his home in Nampa on October 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Scot is survived by his beloved wife, Cherie and his children Justin, Madison and Shayne. His parents Danny & Lynda Edwards and his grandparents, Don & Vi Edwards and Vi Sharp. His siblings, Holly & Josh Beymer and Dustin Edwards.
