Charlene V. Schulte, 88, of Breese, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Troy. She was born October 26, 1921 in Edgewood, IL, daughter of Charles and Vona (Rose) Hockman. She married Nelson W. Schulte on February 28, 1942 in St. Charles, MO and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1985.
Mrs. Schulte is survived by a daughter, Karen (Wayne) Ferguson of Troy; eight grandchildren, Robin (Bob) Fix, Jeff (Eileen) Schulte, Denise (Randy) Pingsterhaus, Tom (Lisa) Schulte, Tim Ferguson, Kristen Ferguson, Kyle Ferguson, and Kristofer Ferguson; eight great grandchildren, Nicole (Tyler) Winters, Heather Fix, Jennifer (Chad) Jansen, Gregory Pingsterhaus, Bret Schulte, Brianne Schulte, Brooke Schulte and Mackenzie Schulte; a sister, Maxine Hetzel of Breese; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sylvia Schulte of St. Louis, MO, Marylou & Ed Hanson of Highland, Dolores Benhoff, Johanna Schulte, Shirley Feldman, Gerald “Shots” & Carol Schulte, and Sharon Schulte all of Breese, and Henrietta Schilling of Cottage Hills.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Schulte; a daughter-in-law, Judith Schulte; two sisters, Lorene Reeder and Laura Gregory; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter “Boob” Hetzel, Carl Reeder, Laverne Schulte, Raymond “Raymie” & “Bert” Schulte, John “Junie” Schulte, Robert “Bob” Schulte, Clinton “Slick” Schulte, Milford “Bean Soup” Schulte, and Donald Schulte. Mrs. Schulte was a homemaker and formerly worked at the Marine Garment Factory in Highland. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Breese and was a former member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
