Sarah Sally Campbell Price, 100, of Atlanta passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013. She was born August 5, 1913 to Sadie Pittman Campbell of Quincy, Florida and Herbert Lloyd Campbell of Dalton. She grew up in Atlanta and attended Lee Street Elementary and Joe Brown Junior High in West End. When the Depression hit, Sally sacrificed furthering her education and got a job to support her family, as so many did in those days. In the 1930 s she became a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a business women s sorority, and went on to become President of the Georgia Chapter and Chairman of the Welfare Committee. On October 9, 1942 Sally joined the U.S. Navy Reserves as part of the WAVES during World War II. She served until 1945 when she was honorably discharged on November 8th from her post as Chief Storekeeper. She was decorated with the Navy Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. When Sally returned to civilian life she went to work at Capital Automobile Company where she remained until 1957. In 1957 she became Executive Secretary for the Atlanta Chapter of AIA (American Institute of Architects) and was instrumental in getting the Atlanta Chapter started (She continued to be voluntarily involved and in 1989 organized the SORTA Group for retired AIA members). In 1970 she went to work at as secretary to the late Rev.
