Sarah Horne Propes, 84, passed through heaven’s pearly gates on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Wilson Medical Center-Duke LifePoint Hospital.

Sarah was born in Charleston, SC on December 14, 1938.  Her family moved to Charlotte, NC in 1949. She worked at Mutual Savings & Loan Assoc. as a teller for many years before becoming a stay-at-home mother. She began working with the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections as a poll worker then as a chief judge.

Sarah enjoyed working with the elections so much that she began working full-time for the Board of Elections as a campaign finance specialist until her retirement. Upon moving to Wilson, NC she continued to work part-time with the Wilson County Board of Elections. She was a loyal member of Memorial Methodist in Charlotte & First Methodist in Wilson.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Norris; father & mother, John & Pearl Horne; brothers, Robert, Edward & Walter; sisters-in-law, Joyce, Dawn & Lois; in-laws Glenn & Willie Mae; brother & sister-in-law, Randy & Jean; nephews, Doug & Matthew; and niece, Ann.

Sarah is survived by her children, Jack & Amy Fisher, Mark Propes, Michele & Doug Inscoe; grandchildren, Nicole Propes, Dana & Tony Popolo, Jamie & John Etringer, Montana Propes, Katy Fisher & Mike Fisher, Corey & Courtney Inscoe, Madison Inscoe Mann; great grandchildren, Alahna, Lehnie & Layne Popolo, Heidi Etringer, Eleanor & Amelia Inscoe; sister, Frances Fuller; brother & sister-in-law, John & Judy Horne; brother & sister-in-law, Larry & Yvonne Propes; friends, Donese, Iris & Glenda; her neighborhood breakfast buddies, senior center friends, and card playing group.

The family would like to thank Dr. Erba and staff at Duke Blood Cancer Center for Sarah’s care during her treatment and the staff at Wilson Medical Center-Duke LifePoint Hospital.
