Sandra Hinkle, 85, died at home on December 12, 2020, shortly after a cancer diagnosis, with her husband Philip, and children at her side. Sandra was born September 19, 1935, in Bayshore, NY, to the late Clifton and Virginia (O’Connell) LaPlatney. She received her training as a radiology technician at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire. It was there where she met her future husband, Philip Brandon Hinkle, while he was a student at Dartmouth College.Sandra and Philip were married on September 1, 1957. Over the course of their married life, they have made their home in many states, due to Philip’s employment requirements, although the majority of their time has been spent in Connecticut with the last 20 years in Newington.Sandra’s greatest joy was her family: raising three daughters, and enjoying time spent with her six grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 63 years, Philip; daughters Pamela, Andrea (David), and Kristin; and grandchildren Alexander, Kevin, Remy, Siobhan, Aurore, and Éamonn. In addition, she leaves her dear brother Clifton, brother-in-law Robert; and her loving nieces and nephews.
