Samuel W. Widmer, Jr. 85, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 9:30 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2006, in his home. Samuel was born on July 15, 1921 in Patterson, NJ, to Samuel W. Widmer, Sr. and Dorothy Marie (Hickman) Widmer, who both preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was a brother-in-law, William Lydecker. Samuel retired in 1979 from the Torrington Corporation, where he was a sales engineer and manager of the Pulp and Paper Department. On March 24, 1946 in Hackensack, NJ, he married Betty C. Lydecker, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Kathleen (Paul) Havener of South Bend, IN; two sons, Thomas R. (Sandra) Widmer of South Bend, IN and Samuel W. Widmer, III of Victoria, TX; three grandchildren, Annette Martin, Tasha (Joseph) Madison, and Matthew P. (Amy Palmer) Havener all of South Bend, IN; six great grandchildren, Amanda Madison, Desiree Martin, Kerstin Madison, Sara Palmer, Julian Palmer, and Selena Palmer; one sister, Dorothy Lydecker of Teaneck, NJ; and by many nieces and nephews in New York, Ohio, and Colorado.
