Samuel Marshall Blankenship, age 79, of Haymarket, VA passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 18, 1936 in Bland County, VA the son of the late John William and Eva May (Haga) Blankenship. He was a retired carpenter, a member of the Custom Cruisers of Northern Virginia for over 20 years and loved to drag race back during the day. He was known at the track as Datsun Sam. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Jean (Campbell) Blankenship; two children, Brenda L. Baldwin and husband Edward of Prince Frederick, MD and Samuel P. Blankenship and wife Mary Lou of Front Royal, VA; three grandchildren, Glen P. Baldwin, Deborah Bishop, Samantha Hoenig; four great granddaughters, Taylor Bishop, Mary Ann Tharp, McKaylea Hoenig, Cadleigh Watson; three sisters, Joan Heeter, Jane Fitzwater and Mary Ellen Labonta and husband Roger; five brothers, Harold Blankenship and wife Irma, Bobby Dean Blankenship and wife Jennifer, Larry Blankenship, John Jr Blankenship and Stanley Blankenship.
