Samuel J. Mulga, Jr., age 69, of Rome, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2013, with his loving family by his side.
Sam was born in Rome on February 6, 1944 to the late Samuel J. and Louise Scaccia Mulga. He attended the Rome Schools and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1962. On September 11, 1982, he married the former Catherine Wager. He worked as a developmental aide for the Rome DDSO.
Sam was a member of the Stanwix Men’s Club and also the “Lasagna Club,” which consisted of having coffee with a few close friends six days a week. He was also a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Catherine; a son and daughter in law, Jerry and Sue Munio of Floyd; four daughters and three sons in law, Mary Ann Munio of Virginia; Diane and Michael Rogers of Lee Center, Kimberly and Jeffery Denslow of Boonville, and Candice and Eric Cesari of Rome; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters in law, Ronald and Linda Mulga of Rome, Joseph and Maureen Rygielski of Ohio, and Carmen and Kathy Blair; and several nieces and nephews.. He was predeceased by a son, Kevin, and a brother, Robert Mulga.
The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Luke’s Home and St. Luke’s Hospital for their compassion shown to Sam over the past year. The family would especially like to thank Sam’s many friends for the kind, loving support they gave him.
