Samuel “Ed” Chadbourne,78, of Milford, beloved husband of Joan Chadbourne departed this life on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on June ll, 1927, in Maine, the ninth of thirteen children of the late Cony and Ines Watson Chadbourne. He attended schools in Harmony and Bangor, Maine, before joining the US Navy in 1945. Moving to Connecticut in 1947, he had several jobs before joining Sikorsky Aircraft in 1951 and retired as a Superintendent of Manufacturing in 1987. On April 15, 1950, he married Joan Black and they spent 55 years of loving marriage together raising their family. After retiring he enjoyed restoring a VS44 seaplane for the New England Air Museum. In 1990 he joined the America-St. John’s Lodge #8, A.F. & A.M., the Pyramid Shriners as a member of the Legion of Honor and transportation corp, the Baldwin Chapter #13 R.A.M., the Jerusalem Council #16 R. & S.M., the Hamilton Commandery #5 and the Lafayette Consistory. Ed will be remembered for his great love and devotion to his family and friends. Mr. Chadbourne is survived by his loving wife Joan Black Chadbourne, devoted children Paul Chadbourne of East Haven, Karen Reynolds and her husband Robert of Ohio, Jeffrey Chadbourne and his wife Debra of Orange, and Beverly Robillard and her husband Joseph of Virginia, grandchildren Paul Jr, Katherine and Andrew Chadbourne, Joshua and Alexander Reynolds, Emily, Sarah and Samantha Chadbourne and Joan, Kristen and Lucas Robillard, great grandchildren Logan Chadbourne and Owen Chadbourne, brothers Vaughn Chadbourne of Maine and Basil Chadbourne of New Hampshire, sisters Claire Corson of Fairfield, Wilma Chadbourne, Dorothy Keaten, Evelyn Keaton and Marilyn Clapp all of Maine and Carolyn Worchester of Florida. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter-in-law Michele Chadbourne, a brother and 3 sisters.
