Samuel Cloud, age 78, of South Haven, Michigan, died peacefully, Monday, August 1, 2016, in the peace and comfort of his family’s presence in Bronson Hospice in Battle Creek.Samuel was born April 17, 1938 in Geneva Township, Michigan to Thomas and Isaline (Merritt) Cloud. He married Arhaliya Chiquita Garcia June 17, 1961 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She preceded him in death.
He also preceded by his parents; one grandson, Darryl Stephens; one brother, Frederick Cloud; one brother in law, David McShane. Sam loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Lions Club in South Haven. Sam was very proud of being the first black man to be a manager at a Meijers Thrifty Acres in Kalamazoo. He later worked as a car salesman for many years and helped a lot of people get cars.
Samuel will be greatly missed by family and friends. He leaves to mourn his passing his two sons and daughters in law, Samuel and Jenice Cloud of Cassopolis, Joseph and Sandra Cloud of Detroit; four grandchildren, Sayber Cloud of Kalamazoo, Joseph Cloud II of Detroit, Jayde Cloud of Detroit, Anthony Stephens of Detroit; one great granddaughter Daija Stephens of Detroit; two sisters, Lydia McShane of South Haven, Cliffie, and husband Melvin, Allen of Chicago; one brother and sister in law, John E., and wife Velma, Cloud of Kalamazoo; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his very special, well loved companion, Lukie.
