He was born October 19, 1930, in Italy, son of Salvatore and Maria (Rante) Giacopelli.
Salvatore was a veteran of the US Army serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He worked for 35 years for the Chicago Park District in the Human Resources and Landscaping Departments. He loved to garden and took great pride in his own landscaping. Salvatore enjoyed building model planes, boats, cars and dollhouses. To relax, he fished and played golf and always loved to share a delicious meal with family. When his children were growing up, Salvatore volunteered as president and baseball coach for his sons little league. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Vincent.
