Sally Vasquez Rodriguez was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 7, 1930.

She was predeceased by her parents, Felipe Vasquez and Maria Jesus Rodarte. She was a strong support to all of her siblings and loved them dearly; Manuel Rodarte, Josephine Gaitan, Phillip Vasquez, Helen Benavides, Gloria Manriquez, and Henry Vasquez, all deceased.

Sally married the love of her life, Fred Rodriguez, in 1952. They were happily married for 67 years. They had 3 daughters and one son; Debbie(Mike) Dennisuk, Maria(Rich) Schieltz and Dottie Rodriguez(Dave Marcozzi) and Peter Rodriguez. All of her cherished grandchildren loved their grandma; Brandon Rodriguez, Garry Dean, Jr., Marisa(Greg) Souldourian, Lauren(Matt) Westerfield, Mario(Kiara) Marcozzi, Gabriela Marcozzi, and Elena Marcozzi. Her great-children are Rheanna, Mikia, Nevaeh, Max, Stella, Calen, Hazel, and Maddie. She had one great-great granddaughter, Amara.

Sally took pride in her work, especially her position as a private home caretaker. She had a special place in her heart for taking care of the elderly. Sally always helped those in need; giving them rides, food, money, a place to live, clothes off of her back and a lending ear. She was a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society, where she was able to help many families.

She was “muy orgullosa” of her Mexican heritage. Her cooking was an expression of her warmth and love,

welcoming friends and family to share her table. Her tamales, enchiladas, tacos and rice were her specialties. To her “food was love” and no one went away hungry.
