Sarah “Sally” Jane Howard, age 83 of Newnan passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2008. Mrs. Howard was born in Grand Rapids, MI to the late John Yorkman & Frances Nyland Yorkman.
She is also preceded in death by her husband Dr. Frank W. Howard whom she married on October 2, 1948.
She is survived by her children; Susan Howard & son in law Don Swartwout, Nancy Howard & son in law Jim Meyer, Mark Howard, and daughter in law Eileen Howard, David Howard, and daughter in law Valynda Wells.
Also, surviving are her grandchildren; Jessica Howard, Ben Swartwout, Erin Meyer, Paul Swartwout, Dan Meyer, Riley Howard, Evan Howard, and Trevor Howard. Mrs. Howard resided in Benton Harbor, Michigan from 1951to 2000. She was the founding director of the first women’s shelter in the Benton Harbor/St. Joseph Michigan area.
