Sally J. Garver, age 86 of Owosso, passed on November 2, 2021 and is now rejoicing in heaven with family and friends who preceded her.Funeral services will be held 11am Monday, November 15, 2021 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor David Woodby officiating. Sally was born on August 14, 1935 in Laingsburg, the daughter of Robert and Frances (Czaplinsky) Hoornstra.Sally’s greatest joy was her family and serving in various activities at Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking which earned her the nickname “Cookie Lady” by the guys at the Shiawassee Road Commission and ladies at the Ovid Library. She also looked forward to socializing at the Senior Center, Pat’s Place and with the residents of Greenwood Apartments.Sally married the love of her life, George Castle, on October 16, 1951. Together, they had six daughters. Sadly, George predeceased her in 1967. She later married Raymond “Dusty” Garver on January 2, 1982, adding another daughter, Nancy Garver-Kish and granddaughter, Jackie, to the family. Sadly, Dusty and Nancy predeceased her.Sally retired from Ovid Health Care Center after 20 years of service, giving her more time to enjoy her family which had grown to 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.Sally was predeceased by her parents, husbands, sisters: Eunice Parker and Viola Fox, brother John Hoornstra, granddaughters Emily Murray and Nicole Hamlin, grandson Chadd Warren and great grandson Eric Bird.She is survived by daughters Sheri Castle-Gothard (Chuck), Carol Self, Judy Manke, son-in-law Tom Manke, Trish Castle, Kathy (John) Densmore, Kelly (Jim) McNeill, brother Edward (Jan) Hoornstra along with grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, Sally requested donations to Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Hospice House of Shiawassee Co.Memorial contributions may be sent to the family at nelson-house.com.
