Dr. Salah El Dine Sadek, age 98 of Midland, passed away Sunday August 5, 2018 at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw. The son of the late Ahmed and Zaineb (Zahran) Sadek was born in Cairo, Egypt on June 9, 1920 where he was raised and educated graduating from the University of Cairo with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
He was also a graduate of the University of Edinburgh with Membership and Diploma to The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons of England. Dr. Sadek moved to the U.S. in 1949 and graduated from Michigan State University with a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine and then graduated from the University of Illinois with a Phd in Pathology.
On April 12, 1952 in Saginaw, Dr. Sadek married the former Helen Ann Phoenix and after 54 years of marriage she died on April 28, 2006. He moved to Midland in 1958 where he worked for The Dow Chemical Co. as a Pathologist until 1967. Dr. Sadek then went to work for Hoffmann – La Roche in Nutley, N.J. where he was the Director of Pathology and Toxicology until his retirement in 1985.
He was the past President of the Midland County Humane Society from 1965-1967, a Diplomate for American Board of Industrial Hygiene, member of American Veterinary Medical Association, New York Academy of Science, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Michigan Society of Pathologists, International Academy Pathology, AAAS, American Academy Industrial Hygiene, Research in Experimental pathology and toxicology.
Surviving are his sons, Ramsay and Mark Sadek of Midland.
