Ryszard Mikutajtis, age 92 of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away August 22, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on February 1, 1927, in Poland to Antoni Mikutajtis and Maria Bogusz. During World War II, being only a teenager, Ryszard joined the Polish underground forces and fought for his Country. Last year the Polish government recognized Ryszard with a special award for his brave service.
Ryszard became an engineer and later, obtained a Law degree from The University of Warsaw. At end of 1966, he brought his family to America to give them a better life and freedom.
In America he enjoyed a successful career as an engineer in the aerospace industry, he relocated to Port St. Lucie six years ago. In his retirement he wrote a book about his and his brother’s life and service during World War II, the book has been accepted by the Polish Historical Society due to its detailed account of the war.
Ryszard is preceded in death by his adored wife Irena who passed in 2014, his three brothers, Czeslaw, Henry, and Zdzislaw, and his beloved son-in-law Louis. He is survived by his children, Eddy Mikutajtis (Odile), Alina Stevens, Irene Hurlburt (Buddy); grandchildren, Vanessa, Krystina, Naomi, Gregory, Jonathan, Brian, Carl, Ciara, and Caroline; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Marcus, Michaela, Joseph, and Richard.
Ryszard was a true Hero to everyone that knew him.
