RUTHANNA HINE FELLERS HAMM, 89, passed away after an illness.
Ruthann was born in January, 1925 to Clyde and Erma Hine in Lebanon, Indiana. She had a wonderful childhood with her brothers and sisters even though those times were very difficult for everyone.Ruthann was a member of Lebanon High School’s class of 1943. She married her childhood sweetheart, Carl (Bob) Fellers, in 1942 before he went off to war. He passed away prematurely in 1966. She missed him every day until the end of her days. During that war, she did her part by making artillery shells at US Machine Corp. She still had a casing that she made and enjoyed telling stories about that era. Really we can say she enjoyed telling stories about all her eras! She was the first of her group to have a car and was a chauffeur to anyone who needed a ride. Later on she had several jobs but she was the most proud of her time as a teacher’s aide at School 28 in the Indianapolis Public School System.Along with her second husband, Samuel Hamm, who predeceased her, Ruthann joined the Sahara Grotto and it’s Auxiliary. It became a big part of her life. She was an enthusiastic participant in the Dramatics Club, Jolly 12 Club and Euchre Club. Ruthann played Mrs. Claus at the Children’s Party for 20 years. And you better believe that she loved to “hit that pocket” for whatever bowling team she was on.
Ruthann is survived by son Michael Fellers and daughter-in-law Susan, sister Dorothy (Roy) Smith, brother-in-law Curt Neal, very good friend Victor Walker and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, predeceasing her are her parents and sisters Maxine (Jim) Greene, Frances Neal, Evalina (Gene) Hedge, Babe (Lloyd) Emmons, littlest sister Hannah and brother Joe(Ruth) Hine. She had missed her beloved in-laws in the Fellers family Nora (Clifford) Linton, Ora (Bud) Mills, Ben (Edythe) Fellers, Roy (Connie) Fellers, and Fanny Belt Everett.Ruthann loved to sing while playing her organ and piano. She was a roller skating whiz when she was younger. She loved children and people in general, especially her friends. And she loved her new friends among the residents and all the staff at Rosegate assisted living. She loved her dogs Cheetah, Pebbles and Taffy. Ruthann was always willing to give her best when and where she was needed.
