Ruth Vilhauer, 94, a long time resident of the Rupert area, passed away on Sunday June 18, 2017 in Portland, Oregon.

Ruth was born on August 8, 1922 to Jacob and Carolina Ketterling in Wishek, North Dakota, in 1936 she moved to Idaho. Ruth married Herman Vilhauer on November 24, 1940.

She helped her husband Herman farm for over 40 years in the Paul and Rupert area, while raising three children. She loved to cook and enjoyed doing all kinds of needlework and crafts.

Ruth is survived by her son Merlin (Marilyn) Vilhauer of Beaverton, Oregon , her daughter Violet (Mike) Mather of Somerdale, New Jersey, two brothers, Leo Ketterling of Rupert, Idaho and Ted Ketterling of Oklahoma, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Herman Vilhauer, her son Harold Vilhauer, five brothers, four sisters, and her parents.
