Ruth Taylor Jefferies

1921 ~ 2012

Ruth was born in Rexburg, ID on May 4, 1921.  She enjoyed her early childhood playing with her cousins on nearby family farms.  Her family moved to Idaho Falls when she was 9 or 10.  She graduated Idaho Falls High School as Valedictorian in 1939.  Ruth attended business school in Salt Lake City during her senior year in high school.

On September 3, 1939, she married her childhood sweetheart, Joe Jefferies.  They had three daughters born in Idaho Falls, and a son born in Afton, Wyoming.  The family moved to Boise in 1953.

Mother worked with Dad in the retail clothing business and then later, they travelled the Rocky Mountain States as manufacturers’ representatives for women’s clothing lines.  They raised their children in Boise and later enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mom and Dad enjoyed working; hobbies included fishing, and making memories together.  They retired in 1986 and bought a cabin at Mack’s Inn, Idaho where they spent many happy years.

When Dad passed away in 1998, Mom took up quilting and loved it!  She was prolific and passionate about her quilts, and enjoyed her quilting friends.

She loved the family home on Warm Springs Avenue where she lived 55 years.  She passed peacefully at Marquis Care Center.  We thank the staff there for their care and love.

Ruth was survived by her three Daughters, Karan (Milt) Kutsurelis, Boise ID, Nancy Jo (Dave) Anderson, Boise ID, Christine (Barry) Peterson, Paso Robles, CA; one Son, Joseph H “Jeff” Jefferies, Boise ID; 9 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; Sister, Jeannine Smith, Salt Lake City, UT.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Vera and Justice C.J. Taylor, Idaho Supreme Court; Husband, Joseph A. Jefferies; Sister and Brother-in-law, Mary and John Dennis; Sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Jefferies; Brother-in-law, F. McKay Smith; and Granddaughter, Mary Peterson

Ruth was a beautiful woman and a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

We love you, Mom, and will miss your bright eyes and cheerful smile.
