Ruth Ramsey, 96, of Charleston, (formerly of Clarksburg) passed away, Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Heartland of Charleston following an extended illness. She was born August 9, 1915 in Central Station, WV the daughter of the late William C. Ramsey and Lucinda Carder Ramsey. She is survived by one niece; Mrs. Norma Jean Nichols, Upper St. Clair, Pa.; four great-nieces; and one cousin; Mary Gatrel with whom she was very close. She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Ruth was a graduate of West Union High School, Glenville College, West Virginia University and West Virginia Business College. She taught at West Virginia Business College for fifteen years and in the public schools of Lewis and Harrison Counties. She retired from the W. R. Meredith & Company where she worked as a Certified Public Accountant. She was a member and past president of Clarksburg Business and Professional Women’s Club. Member of the YWCA having served as a member of the Board of Directors. Ruth was also an active member of the Duff Street United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, served on the Board of Trustees, the finance committee and the Board of Administration.
