Muncie-Ruth R. Hershberger, 95, passed away early Friday morning, May 13, 2011, at Elm Croft of Muncie. She was born December 31, 1915 in Winamac, Indiana, the daughter of Elim and Pearl Marie (Morris) Yount , who both died suddenly when Ruth was 2yrs. old and was reared by her step parents, Ray and Leota Reeser.
She is a 1934 graduate of Royal Centre High School in Royal Centre, Indiana. Ruth married the love of her life Basil E. Hershberger on April 29, 1939 and he preceded her in death July 2, 1969.
Mrs. Hershberger had worked for Ball State University for over 20 yrs. retiring in 1983 in the Housekeeping Dept.
Surviving are her son, Basil Ray Hershberger (companion- Marsha Alfont), Muncie; two daughters, Reah Schwartzkopf (husband-Earl), Littleton, Colorado and Janice Oliver (husband-Jan), Muncie; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband of 33yrs. Basil, she is preceded in death by her parents, step parents, brother, Morris Yount, and a daughter-in-law, Oundrea Hershberger.
